After a few longish days on the road I hope to slow the pace. So much beautiful countryside and amazing views but I didn't stop to take pictures. But I can share a few from the places we stayed. Our first night was in Drummondville but no pictures of the very generic motel.
But our second night was at a Harvest Host location near Florenceville Bristol NB. Harvest Hosts are businesses who make their property available for Campers to park for 1 or more nights. No amenities are offered but aside from a membership there are no costs unless you spend money at the business.
Kismet has been doing well with the driving but she did manage to hurt herself before we left (and this has happened before) and by Thursday night I was quite concerned because she was having trouble walking and in pain. We headed to Fredericton early Thursday morning to an animal hospital where they diagnosed a spine injury and she is on anti inflammatory medication and muscle relaxant. She is doing much better but still a bit wobbly. She is loving all of the new smells everywhere we go.
Before we headed to Cape Breton we went into Pictou to see the Hector Heritage Quay and memorial ship. A replica of one that brought many Scottish emigrants to Canada in 1773
One more stop in Antigonish for some supplies before the final trek to Cape Breton. No photos, unfortunately and I'm annoyed with myself about that, but lo and behold I had another stalker! Some of you will get that reference. But this was a pleasant one. I parked at Shoppers and a lady walked by and waved and then her husband walked by smiling at me so I opened the door and asked "can I help you with something?" He laughed and asked if I realized we had been following each other since Fredericton and they had just parked when they saw me pull into the parking lot. This big turquoise van is easy to spot! They were there to buy chocolate from the Peace by Chocolate store. (A Syrian family story that was a documentary on Netflix) and I just stopped to go to the drug store. They are from Kitchener and going on the ferry tomorrow to Newfoundland. And her name is Nancy. They took a picture and I didn't think to ask to take one too🤦♀️
So with that saga I will close this edition. Once I get to tour the campground we're in I'll take photos and post about Cape Breton in the next one.
Cheers everyone 🍷 I'm going to crack my bottle open tonight.
